How Do We Play Presents: Skin In The Game: An Experiment in Human
Attraction.
Hi! I’m so excited you’re interested in joining the How Do We Play Team. We are a New York City based participatory events series aimed at combating social isolation through play.
Our events blend immersive art, interactive performance, live music, games, and facilitated experiences designed to bring people into meaningful connection with one another.
This upcoming event asks artists to design participatory experiences based on theories of attraction. At its core, Skin in the Game is an experiment in what makes us desire, connect, and fall for each other. The project asks artists to think creatively about curating connection.
In addition to our artists, we are looking to fill a number of positions, from marketing and graphic design to business development and venue scouting.
You are welcome to apply for multiple positions using the same form.
We encourage applicants of all backgrounds to apply. Because this project is an evolving experiment in attraction and desire, we especially welcome LGBTQ+ collaborators who want to help expand and reshape the narrative of what desire, intimacy, and connection can look like.
About Skin In the Game
Skin in the Game is a week-long immersive, participatory art experience designed to combat social isolation and explore how human attraction and connection actually form in real life. Blending performance, installation, ritual, and guided interaction, the event invites small groups of participants to move through artist-designed environments based on psychological principles of attraction. The experience invites awkwardness, touch, and playfulness. The experience is structured, facilitated, and consent-aware, creating a space that feels both adventurous and emotionally safe. This is not speed-dating or a singles mixer. Rather, this is a collaborative social happening focused on embodied connection.

Timeline & Commitment
Team Formation: Mid February 2026
Installation Period: Late March / Early April (role-dependent)
Event Opening: Mid April 2026 (tentative)
Event Run: One week of nightly experiences (example: April 10–17, 6–8pm — final dates TBD)
Location: NYC (some roles hybrid/remote)
Compensation:
Given that we are still a relatively new organization with no funding, we are unfortunately unable to offer monetary compensation. We are in the process of looking at and applying for grants, so we very much look forward to the day when we can start offering financial support! We are happy to offer college credit, and encourage applicants to think of this as a mutually beneficial collaboration (adding to your portfolio.) Given the success of our previous events (400+ attendees per opening, $3k+ in art sales, securing sponsors such as Poppi, Lesser Evil & Juneshine, featuring 50+ international artists and earning media coverage) we can guarantee exposure and exciting collaborators.
